The mission fails. Time breaks.
A mission gone wrong sends Soap back in time—into a body that hasn’t earned its scars yet. Raleigh shifted next to her, his hands on his hips as he bit his lip. He sucked his teeth, “Um…yeah. How did you get in this mess again?”
The baby gave a little gurgle in her carrier. “I might have just been agreeing to get the conversation over with…” Mako let the silence carry.
The blonde pilot hummed, and the two of them continued to stare.
The little girl smiled at them, gummy and drooling as she played with her sock-covered foot. Mako unbuckled her, grumbling at the many latches containing the child, and picked her up. She held her out, stiff-armed, as she had never been around many babies before. Never actually. She was much better with....older individuals.
“Raleigh,” she paused, “What do we do with a baby?”

Kono knew her team was special, government allowance aside. What they had together was special, a family in the making. Steve and Danny were new to her, but at the same time, men cut from the same cloth as she was. She observed them, how they talked, how they gave orders, how they worked to make their task force a home.
But she notices some habits that struck her as odd - like how deftly Danny knows to throw a knife or how easily Steve can stitch a wound.
Not totally abnormal skills, but not so common that every police officer or military man would know.

He fell asleep that night with his hands clasped over his ears and tear tracks down his face.

“Yeah, a real sweet one,” He gestured at his father, gazing at his mother to understand, “Except he just-” He sighed, ”He’s missing the whole part where he tore me a new one for ruining his truck.”
His father looked at him, disapproval in his eyes.

Christmas in Hawaii wasn’t a bad thing…per say.
Danny knew that a majority of the things were the same as Jersey, like the music and decorations. People still celebrated, the shops were still packed. But the heat and lack of snow failed to rid him of his slowly abating homesickness. It made it worse when he woke up in the morning, expecting snow on his windowsill and his feet numb even through the thick socks he wore, but instead he was sweating because his air conditioning decided to die during the night.
