Summary

When Shane finally breaks and calls Boston forward Cliff Marlow, he expects to be met with confusion or hostility. Summary
Shane Hollander is not, by any means, supposed to be a poet. It was never in the image that he had slowly chiseled and etched throughout his life, a sculptor carving the marble statue of his perfect future self. Never, in any of his careful, precise whittles and scores, did poetry appear. Not when he was shaping his jawline, or molding the set of his shoulders, or threading the ridges of his veins. No one practical, when thinking up a career for themselves, produces ‘poet’ as a prospect.
In some ways, however, poetry has always been a piece of Shane. A piece of who he was before, a piece of who he is now, and a piece of who he's always been, the marble figure which was waiting to be freed from its slab all along.
If only he could display this true marble statue of who he is, the poet, where he wanted, in what pose he wanted. No, instead he had to be hired by Ilya Rozanov as his little entertainer so he could pose him instead.

Ilya, a rich model who's desperate to impress some artsy girl he's trying to fuck, hires Shane, a broke poet who's a little pretentious about his literary work, to be his private poet for parties.
