Yuuri knows the man in front of him. He’d know him even without his glasses, even if he couldn’t see at all and could only hear the distinctive rush of blades on ice. There’s no question, because Yuuri’s bedroom is plastered with this face.
It’s not the exact same face from Yuuri’s posters. The man on the beach is thinner, his chin and cheeks prickling with thick stubble, and his silvery hair is shaggy, longer than Yuuri’s idol has worn in years, but still in that moment Yuuri has no doubts. He’d recognize those eyes anywhere.
But Victor Nikiforov can’t be on a beach in Kyushu right now. More than that, he can’t be here with his hair hanging so long it sweeps his shoulders, his cheekbones hollow and his collarbones protruding, wearing clothes that seem to have been through a typhoon.
He can’t be here right now, because Yuuri watched Victor Nikiforov leverage his signature quad flip to take second in the short program during the World Championships in Tokyo last night.

Hasetsu rests below the capital of the Above. The castle and many of the royals live directly above them. But as a result the guards are even stricter about making sure there are no remnants in the city of Hasetsu. If a person is born with wings they are chopped off as soon as they present.

A look of pity crossed Victor’s face. “I’m so sorry, but people from Hasetsu don’t have wings.”Yuuri blinked at him several time. Confused by his words. Could he really believe that? “We have wings.” He couldn’t keep the indignation from his voice.
“No, you are all born without them. Only the people Above are born with wings. It is why we live in the Above.”
“That’s a lie. We do so have wings. The guards just cut them off if they catch you with them.”
Victor’s eyes went wide.
“One day I am going to have wings and I am not going to fly as well as you. I am going to fly better than you. Just wait, we will meet again one day, and I will outfly you.”

Summary
Perhaps, Victor realized, they were all gifted in their own ways. The way that Victor could charm the ancient, malfunctioning Xerox into producing perfect packets was perhaps the same way that Yuuri could print carts of brochures but not once refill the paper trays.

On a trip to visit his friend Victor sees an omega on the neighbour's balcony. Interest strikes.
The book resting in his lap is one Victor is very familiar with, and he cannot help but smirk as he moves from the front of the balcony to the side to be closer. The balconies are not far apart, a window on Victor’s side, two on the other. He’ll have to speak up to be heard he guesses, and takes another pull of the cigarette before he clears his throat. The omega startles, eyes snapping up to meet Victor’s in surprise. They’re a lovely deep brown, and Victor can now dub this man the most gorgeous omega he has ever seen.
