Summary
The plan is to do a series of shorter fics leading into a nice long post-game crossover. One with mystery and murder in Baldur's Gate and hopefully Wyll and Astarion getting their gods damned act together.

Summary
Gale, once the esteemed Archmage of Waterdeep and now the self-appointed Grand Collector of Magical Misalignments, finds himself stranded in an unfamiliar land with a ragtag group of liars, cutthroats, and aliens. While he manages to rekindle his long-neglected skills in building friendships with most of them, it's painfully apparent that the vampire harbours a profound dislike for him. Given his recent streak of misfortune, it's no surprise that fate dictates learning more about the volatile orb lodged in Gale's chest requires Astarion's begrudging cooperation.
Astarion, for his part, is simply trying to survive.
Thus begins a journey marked by personal evolution, confronting inner and not-so-inner demons and embracing self-compassion—not necessarily in that order.
Oh yes, and they also need to save the world.

Either he's too busy putting on a show he thinks his partner will enjoy or else he's really damn quiet because he's busy policing his own reactions. His partner edges him until he can't be anything but honest, all pretense set aside as he loses himself in pleasure. Any kind of bondage is welcome, as is the implication that there's been some orgasm denial in the lead-up to whet his appetite. Wyll, Karlach, Halsin, or any combination thereof preferred.

Astarion laughs. Then, after a long, pointed pause, he says, “Oh, gods. Were you being serious?”

Summary
Astarion and Gale are two sides of the same coin. They know what it's like to hunger, what it's like to be someone else's tool, both used to fulfill someone else's goals. Astarion has never been allowed to love, has only ever wanted peace and safety. Gale has searched for love his entire life, yearning to find someone who wants to be loved by him. They both want someone who sees them.
This is my take on Astarion and Gale learning what it means to find someone who sees beyond what they can offer (Astarion's body, Gale's magic). The story of what it's like to fall in love with someone who might just love you back.
Begins in the prequel, set during Act One, when they both feel drawn to one another, but there's not a time nor place for anything deeper. It continues, months later, after the brain, after Baldur's Gate, in the magnificent city of Waterdeep, a fresh start for them both, and time to heal from wounds neither knew they had.
