    “Nothing of importance. I’m simply reworking some formulae I’ve found faults with.”
    “Like… maths and such? Chemistry?”
    “Close, but not quite.”
    “Is it related to this magic of yours?”
    “Yes, you are right. I am a mage—a magus, as they call me—but magic can be implemented in a variety of ways. Spells, including those for warping, comprise one such way, which also happens to be my speciality. And this way,” he audibly thumbs at the parchment, “is something of a hobby of mine.”
    “This hobby being…?”
    “Alchemy,” Takemitchy supplies with a smile. “I’m an alchemist.”
    Suddenly, the pots around the house make sense. No wonder Mikey thought some of them more peculiar than the others.

    A self-made slave, Mikey is saved by an enigmatic mage who promises to lift his tragic curse. What he believes to be an unpleasant ordeal eventually blooms into something beautiful.
