“To pills?” Eddie asks, a note of confusion in his voice.
Buck shakes his head. “No, it was never – until this it was never pills. I’m not really addicted to the pills. I was dependent on them, I get that. But it’s not – the pills were just the latest solution to a problem I’ve had as long as I can remember. I have this – itch, I guess. A missing piece inside my head, a craving for something that I can’t identify. I don’t know what it is, I’ve never known what it is. But it washes over me and I open and close the fridge a dozen times trying to see if what I want is something edible, I try hobbies, I try talking to people, I try working out and eating and nothing ever really makes me feel satisfied. And sometimes that’s fine, sometimes the craving isn’t as consuming, but when it is I’m… I’ve tried everything. And whenever something works even a little I abuse that until it gets so bad I have to stop or it’ll ruin everything.”
