Summary
Ukyo's hearing is more sensitive than most. He can pinpoint the point of origin of a sound from kilometers away, he can interpret a distant muttering under the clamor of a battle, he can even hear the heartbeats of those around him. Ukyo's hearing is not just more sensitive than most people, it's more sensitive than most animals.
It's also far, far from natural.
Ukyo grew up as a test subject part of Japan's most well kept secret. His time in the JSDF was a brief and blissful escape, from which he dreaded his return. But just before he had to, a miracle—a tragedy—a worldwide petrification gave him a chance at freedom. A chance at normalcy. But between his own disdain for murder, a certain figure connected to his past showing up, and all this love of science and human advancement going around, everything seems to be working against him. Maybe he would be better off running away before he can be pulled back to his position as a lab rat.
tl;dr—In which Ukyo is a government experiment.

Summary
This is an outline for a Varian Gets Thrown In The Boiling Isles fic I probaby won't ever have the time to write out in full, but I figured, someone might find interesting to puruse.
Is it a bad decision to post this? Maybe. Do I find parts of the outline deeply amusing to myself and want to offer other people the chance to partake in that amusement? Definitely.

Summary
Being the younger brother of an infamous thief isn't really all it's cracked up to be, especially when said older brother/thief insists that Varian stay behind and wait while he has all the fun scaling towers and stealing crowns. Not that it was particulalry unexpected; it wouldn't be the first time, and it certainly wouldn't be the last.
It would, however, be the first time his waiting was inturrupted by a creepy lady and a manic horse.

Summary
In short, an AU in which Varian grew up the younger brother to one Eugene Fitzherbert, more commonly known as Flynn Rider, and one Lance Strongbow who would deny having ever had another name.
At length, an AU in which one would-be Prince Horus was not sent to grow up in some random orphanage, but instead was put in the care of Quirin, the most sane of King Edmund's trusted Knights of the Brotherhood. Ten years later, he's Eugene, the first son of Lord Quirin of Old Corona and new older brother to Varian, who he is led to believe is his half-brother by blood. One year after that, both Varian's mother and their father have gone missing, and he's Eugene Fitzherbert (last name courtesy of the cruel orphanage workers and the other three unfortunately named Eugenes they already had on record), only remaining relative of a not-yet toddler. He went on to raise Varian with the help of Lance, his most trusted friend and literal partner in crime. A new name, one raccoon, a few too many enemies and thirteen years later, it's just him and Varian again.
Things can only get better from here. Right?

A great little reminder that our world isn't perfect, and every person in it struggles, and we are not the main characters of the earth's story, nor of humanity's. We are all characters, equal in worth no matter our histories, living on this little rock together, and we each play our own little part. No one is a main character, but no one is a background character either. All that told in a really great, fun way.

Out of all of the Sides to have wings, why the fuck did it have to be Virgil?
Come on, it’s not like it even fits with Anxiety, being able to fly? Having these big fucking things sticking out of his back? No thank you, that’s more literally anyone else’s thing! Roman would love it, he’s sure, soaring to great heights and all that. Patton’s the closest one of them to actually being an angel. Logan could use them to fly away from the bullshit.
But nope. Virgil’s the one stuck with them. Isn’t that just fantastic.

Summary
