Summary
A reworking of The Long Game. This tells various stories that occur during that 1st, 2nd, & 3rd year when Shane is still a Voyager and Ilya a Centaur, finally when Shane becomes a Centaur himself.
Timeline is roughly:
Ilya's First Centaur Season:
Rip off the band-aid - Summer- immediately after Heated Rivalry, still at the first cottage getaway.
I Only threw this party for you - Fall - That very halloween, roughly 4 months from the cottage.
I got to hear it from your lips - Late Fall/Winter - where Ilya is jealous of Shane getting attention by other gay men now that he's out. (Flashforward scene in the end)
Ilya's 2nd Centaur Season:
Can I get Shane's Number? - Fall- Troy joins the team mid-season. Nov - January
Let's all meet Harris - Winter - Harris joins the staff in Feb.
Ilya's 3rd Season:
Two Drunken Nights Two Months Apart - 1 October night, 1 Jan. night. 1 press conference.

“Mic’ing us up? Did I hear that right?” Hunter questions.
“Someone in PR thought it would be funny to hear the three of you during all of your games,” Coach LeClaire explains, “The idea got out and spread like wildfire.”
“Huh,” Hunter responds.
“It would be funny to hear me,” Ilya corrects, “I am funny. The other two are boring.”
He hears Hollander huff out a laugh and bump shoulders with him as Hunter continues to ask questions. Casually glancing over to the other man, he sees a small smile playing at his lips. His eyes, though, there was a gleam that he hadn’t seen before. He wasn’t certain what it could mean, but it couldn’t be good for Ilya.

Summary
Ilya wakes up confused. He’s pretty sure he fell asleep at home, in bed, with Shane fast asleep in his arms, but he wakes up on a flat surface with a pinch in his lower back. Had he fallen off the bed in the middle of the night? Neither he nor Shane move much in their sleep, but he supposes it isn’t impossible.
He levers himself up on one hand, stretching out his back slightly as he sits up. He’s definitely not in his bedroom anymore. The room he’s in is large and full of bulky hockey players spread out across the floor. Their soft groans and quiet questions begin to filter in his ears as they wake up as well. He sees some players he knows are on the Voyageurs, some of his own teammates, some coaching staff, and even some WAGs like Jackie Pike and Cassie Boodram. But the most important person in the room is laid out next to him, face slack and peaceful with sleep.
“Shane,” Ilya urges, shaking him. “Shane, wake up.”

Summary
Shane turns bright red, his freckles showing up as lighter pink specks against the dusky color of his cheeks. “It’s not like… I haven’t been… I don’t have a crush on you or anything!”
“Why not?” Hayden demands, too shocked to filter his words. “We’re best friends! I’d have a crush on you if I was gay!”
Shane gapes up at him. Jackie puts her hand over her mouth, her eyes dancing. Hayden realizes, far too late, how that must have sounded.
Well, at this point, it’s too late for him to do anything other than lean into it, right? He folds his arms across his chest. “I mean, jeez, man, am I not hot enough for you?”Hayden Pike has a terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad day. And then, just to make it worse, Ilya Rozanov shows up.
