Summary
Bakura has sex issues, and Malik has commitment issues.
Bakura and Malik connected instantly when they first met, but due to circumstances there just wasn't enough time. Years later, Malik and Ryou successfully bring Bakura back from the dead. Now Bakura and Malik have all the time in the world, but their respective pasts keep getting in the way.
After a childhood of being imprisoned and controlled, Malik is afraid of commitment because it makes him feel trapped. As for Bakura, he grew up in a society whose problematic views on sex have made him feel ashamed of what he likes in bed. On top of that, due to his past trauma, Bakura fears being vulnerable with someone. This makes it even harder for him to deal with the things he enjoys sexually, not to mention intimacy in general. Maybe Malik is the one person Bakura could feel comfortable being vulnerable with, but Malik's refusal to admit that they're more than friends and his habit of flirting with other guys really isn't helping.
