With men it's hiding, and fumbling in dark corners, and shrinking away from each other as soon as possible. Never speaking of it again. He'd gotten around enough at university to know the difference between wanting a woman and wanting a man. Erik won't be any different, Charles knows, and the knowledge sears across him like a whip.

Summary
Professor Charles Xavier leads a quiet life: teaching, research, and a seasonal love affair with gyptian Erik Lehnsherr. Every summer and winter Erik visits Oxford, alone or with his children in tow. This year, however, Charles has begun a perilous line of research and shows no sign of stopping. Charles, Erik, Wanda, and Pietro are drawn into the dangerous net of the Magisterium as they try to protect each other. Will any of them emerge unscathed?
Wanda smiles then, a sharp and confident little expression. It reminds him of Erik so viscerally that Marlowe whines quietly. "Don't worry. No one will notice me." She departs as quickly as she came, down the street past the elaborate silk stall, Eris wheeling over her head as a hawk.
Charles watches until she's out of sight and skulks back down the alley. Marlowe follows, his head low. "I know," Charles murmurs. He picks the polecat up and holds him close. The daemon nuzzles his head against Charles's neck. They stay like that for a long moment before taking a long, circuitous route back to their townhouse.
