Emily glances up momentarily, gritting her teeth at the obscenity unfolding before their eyes, before continuing on with what she’s doing. “As their boss, I’m choosing not to until they declare otherwise.”
Penelope huffs. She can’t begrudge Emily for taking the high road, she just has no intention of joining her on it yet. “I can’t believe they didn’t tell me."

Emily rolled onto her side, squeezing her eyes shut against the images that flooded her mind unbidden: JJ accepting Will's invitation to dinner, JJ laughing at his jokes, JJ inviting him up to her hotel room.

The imagined scenes played out like a sickening film she couldn't stop, each frame more detailed and excruciating than the last.
