Summary
It's Christmas Eve, 1979, and Ford is convinced his life is going great. He's doing important work with the two people he trusts most in the world in a place that finally accepts him. Then Stan comes crashing back into his life, from the future no less, with cryptic warnings of a dark future. By the end of this Christmas Carol he'll certainly have some life choices to reevaluate.

Usually I'm not a big fan of Christmas-based fics, but this one did a good job of remembering the characters faith and had some of the best banter I've seen between characters. Absolutely had me smiling like a loon at times. I Recommend.

Summary
The first cage he finds has a sign on it.
It’s made out of old driftwood and it reads: “Deadly! Do not open!”
Stan reads it a few times. The words have been written with red paint which has smeared across the sign in a few places. The writing is hasty and barely legible, as if it was done in a moment of great hurry or panic. The red paint and the occasional splatters make it look like blood and the numbness in Stan’s brain recedes long enough for him to snort a derogatory laugh and roll his eyes.
His brother can be so dramatic.

After the portal incident, Stan frees all of Ford's specimen. He thinks that's the end of it.
He couldn't have been more wrong.

Summary
Stanford and Stanley Pines, freshly sixteen, are flung forward into 1983 after fighting over a half-broken time tape that neither of them wanted to be fighting over. Their relationship, usually so concrete, had begun to strain - and the argument over the time machine gets out of hand. The future is not what either of them expects to find.
Stanford, stranded in New Mexico and utterly alone, finds himself out of his depth when he comes across a much older version of his brother who is homeless and struggling to make ends meet.
Stanley, stranded in Oregon and burned by the broken time tape, has his worst fears confirmed when he finds an older version of his brother who is driven to the brink by paranoia and forces unknown.

Stan didn’t know what he expected. Just a larger version of the kid he had known in high school, really. Sure they were identical, but Stan hadn’t been the person who looked like his brother in a long time. New scars, constant stubble, greasy mullet, dirty clothes, couple new teeth…He wasn’t exactly his best self. Ford seemed to be doing just fine, last he heard, what with his fancy house up in the Pacific Northwest wilderness, so he had assumed that he would be more…stable.
He noted his shaking hands, the relentless pacing he had picked up, back and forth through the room like a caged animal. He took in the unshaved face, the sunken eyes with dark shadows so deep they may as well be bruises. He looked pale and skinny, like he hadn’t been eating enough. Still, Ford stared ahead, hands clutching a book he had picked up during his rambles, eyes flicking back and forth like he was reading the blank air.
What was this guy so afraid of way out here?
In which there's slightly more communication when Stan first comes to Gravity Falls, and it makes all the difference.
