His name fell from her lips in a sigh, “…Charon.”
When he didn’t respond, she whispered, “I promise—“ Her voice shook, betraying her nerves. Not because she was afraid of him hurting her, but because she was worried he had noticed the way her eyes danced across the broken skin of his lips. She swallowed hard, steadying herself. “I’m not… afraid of you.”
“You should be.” His eyes opened, but they were lowered to where his hands rested on the exposed skin above the neckline of her sleep shirt.

As she is in the midst of navigating what to do between the Legion, NCR, and her father, House reveals himself to her in private, warning her that Cooper is in danger where he is headed. Worried about the potential Enclave threat Cooper might face in Colorado, Lucy sets off on her own to locate him.
As the other factions vie for control of New Vegas, will House succeed in rebuilding his former power, or will someone else claim it?

Sequel to Little Girl Gone
Thanks to Lucy MacLean, Jacobstown held out against the Enclave's attempt to recollect their Super Mutant remnants led by their meddling, mutated, malformed apprentice, Henry MacLean. The big bad has been struck down. The day has been saved. Now, clearly, it's time for rest, recovery, and celebration of a job well done!
Except it's not. Not by a long shot.
The Enclave is still out there, Cooper's family is, too, and Norman is still a subject in one of Vault-Tec's many experiments. What's more is the source of all the trouble seems to be coming from one place. After assuring Cooper she's healed enough for travel, they break from their fake marriage routine and settlement life helping Marcus rebuild to kick off one more journey together into the mountains of Colorado.
Nothing but questions lie ahead of them of what they'll find and who they'll see, or even if they'll run into anyone or anything they mean to. Only one thing is for sure: nothing's fair in love and war.

“Hang on, now Darlin’,” a sudden, brusque tug pulled her down and she lost her footing, falling into his lap.
She felt his breath on her neck, his lips brushing the shell of her ear when he spoke, “I don’t think I heard you right.” She gulped, stomach dropping as one of his arms snaked around her waist, the other came up to rest on her throat. She needed to disentangle herself, to get away from him, but he was too strong, and if she was being honest, she wasn’t trying terribly hard to get away. Lucy wasn’t sure she even wanted whatever was happening to stop.
“You tellin’ me Miss Prim and fuckin’ Proper was fixin’ to sneak into my room and let me break her in before her lil boyfriend?”

Lucy spun violently on her heel. She wanted to shout at him. To ask how on earth he was Cooper Howard. She had known him. She had been friends with him. She’d been well on her way to falling in love with him. How was this scarred, vile thing him?
“You’re not the man I met 200 years ago.” She said.
“Oh yeah?” He spat. “You’re exactly how I remember you.”

Summary
The ghoul stands a few feet away, swaying on his feet and silhouetted by the gleaming rad-storm. Without a second hand to hold it, her finger sits perched between his lips. Carefully, he guides the bloody end of it towards his right hand, connecting it with his own stump. Lucy might have hurled at the sight, if she weren't so incensed.
A few seconds pass before he releases the stolen digit from his mouth, thunder rumbles, and then — by some bizarre wasteland alchemy that she could never begin to understand — he wiggles the finger. Bends it forwards and backwards and twists it as if it is his own.
Lucy should be horrified.
Instead, she's just really ticked off.
Or, Lucy accidentally resurrects her new boyfriend, and the Ghoul accidentally binds his soul to the most ridiculous girl in the wasteland.
