She had shed Princess Dis in the wastelands of exile. The first crack had been dealt by the dragon, but she peeled the husks of old herself off one by one, and left them behind in the dirt.
Here was the Dis that cried each night, embarrassing. Here was Dis learning to curb her tongue. Here was Dis swallowing her fear of the open plains, Here was Dis faking confidence, ordering Dwarves twice her age and experience. Here was Dis settling into her mantle, doing what was necessary. Here was Dis doing whatever Thorin could not.
Dis joins Dain's journey back to the Iron Hills in an attempt to cloak Thorin's quest.

‘What’s that about?’ Conner asked, softly.
‘My dad doesn’t like me being away from home,’ said Tim, twisting his hoodie strings round his fingers, ‘like, he really doesn’t like it.’After Deathstroke gives Tim two black eyes and a broken nose, he can't go back to his dad's, so he takes up Conner's offer of spending a few days on the farm. But now Tim has to confront everything he's been running from -- his girlfriend back home, the sheer exhaustion of his double life, his confusing feelings about Conner.
Tim's dad won't stop calling Tim, trying to get him to come home. Maybe Tim can't keep making excuses forever.

It should’ve been scary, being thrown a year and a half back in time with no explanation, but Tim didn’t feel scared. He was in the barn with Bart and it was warm – it had been a warm spring that year, he remembered – and nothing bad had happened yet. If it was a dream, it was a good one.
Seventeen-year-old Tim Drake will stop at nothing to find Bruce, but his quest is put on hold when he wakes up in the past. He’s sixteen again, in a blissful sanctuary from everything that keeps him awake at night. Here, his friends are still alive, and so is his father. And so is Conner, who especially sticks in Tim’s mind: their tumultuous, ambiguous relationship came to an abrupt end when Conner died, and Tim still wishes he’d found the courage to tell Conner how he felt.
But Bruce is absent from the past, too – if this really is the past. To find him, Tim knows he needs to find a way back to the present. But that means giving everything up for a second time, when he’s lost so much already.

Dick laughed. “Chin up, Cass. It’s your night." He unfolded his arms, wistful, like all of it was fabulous. “Five more minutes. Nothing the perfect heir can't handle, right?”
He’d smiled, but there was a sleight of hand that occurred in that space of a second, a magician’s old trick, but before she could fully read him Dick had turned and disappeared into a sea of blonde and blue-eyed, reshifting the center of the room’s gravity.
Or: Dick & Cass vs the year the Gotham press pits Bruce Wayne's two eldest against each other. It's not a crisis—it's a metamorphosis. Probably.
