“No, Grian!” Scar exclaims, reaching for his diamond sword. “You know, I was planning on hitting Team BEST first, give ‘em a real good thrashing. Send a message and all that! Can’t mess with ol’ Scar! Not anymore, no sir!” He takes another step toward Grian.
It’s the instinct of green life, Grian knows, that has him backing away slowly. He takes a few tiny steps backwards.
Scar looks at him, something angry and hurt in his gaze, “But I think you’ll make a good first message to the masses. You were the first to take advantage of me, after all.”
or, grian has won third life. choking on his guilt, he jumps. but he isn’t taken to the afterlife. and he seems to be the only one who knows about third life.

Summary
Grian had once thought the worst feeling ever was dying.
Then, the Life Games happened, and he decided losing your final life (or even one of the first ones, feeling your life seeping from your body, knowing you were that much closer to death) was much worse.
And then Double Life came. And he changed his mind again. The worst feeling he had ever known was dying permanently, knowing it was your fault, and feeling someone else's life being snuffed out because of you (especially when you had taken them out of the game permanently once before).
Now, though, just a bit after this realization, with a horrified Scar standing before him, darkness crowding into the corners of his vision, and his hand coated with sticky crimson, Grian decides this might be the most awful thing he's ever felt.
Or…
Grian’s final death in Double Life had some effects that carried over back onto Hermitcraft.
