Texas could feel the cold through his coat. His hands were shaking and pale, and he could see the puff of his exhales in the air. Walking up to a door, he knocks. Whispers, followed by shuffling could be heard from the other side, and the door opened.
An older lady opened the door. She was wearing layers of clothing, though most of them didn’t look too warm. A few others were partially visible, standing nearby but just out of view.

California woke up at nine today. Well, technically he woke up at eight, but he didn’t get up until nine. After an hour of scrolling online he finally got up. Stretching his arms out, before heading to the bathroom. He imagined how he would’ve looked to others. Scrawny tall guy, oversized shirt, flat chest. And it was true. That was what people saw him as.
A smile crossed his face as he went to open the bathroom door, the weight on his chest stopping its movement.
