Garrett’s used to being alone. He doesn’t need everyone around him all of the time. He's a wolf, and nothing like a total pushover wolf, like Dennis: give them a bone, and they lose all their edge. No, he’s a lone wolf. Totally badass and awesome, and completely unfazed by treats and belly rubs. Feral. Majestic.
To remind himself of the fact, he commissions a new jean jacket, this one with a totally sick airbrushed wolf on the back, and to make his point even pointier, he only gets one, ignoring the strange, sad crinkle in the corner of Steve’s sad, strange eyes.
Wherein Garrett faces a crisis of faith (in himself) and Steve invents (best) friends with benefits.

But ‘perfectly adequate,’ when facing the prospect of reuniting with the man that may very well be the love of his life, feels (pathetic, mortifying, distressing) like a quandary.

Lingers like a whiff of ozone, and no matter how hard you try to forget it when you close your eyes behind the visor of your helmet, there’s the haunting outline of his lips mapped out in your head like a constellation. His mouth. His eyes. His single bare hand, ever so gently cupped around Grogu’s body like he knew how important it was to you that he be touched like he was precious.
And it must have worked, because you let Grogu go with him. Maybe that’s why you can’t stop thinking about that moment—how it felt to hold unwavering and long sustained eye contact with a man for perhaps the first time in the whole of your lonely life.

Din’s heart is in his goddamned throat. Surely—surely, Luke Skywalker is not going to go change into the sexy outfit he wore to try and seduce the man who married his sister. Surely not. Din’s life wasn’t that ridiculous…or else it wasn’t ridiculous in that way. He could survive any number of things: blaster fire, his ship crashing, Imperial scouts, other bounty hunters. But he’s not sure he knows how to weather this particular storm. So in Luke’s absence, he lifts his helmet up just enough to suck down three burning gulps from the spotchka bottle, just to take the edge off of waiting for this impossible thing.
