His attachment to this man feels pathetic, maybe, but inevitable. For Heisenberg, each loop means Ethan is a stranger again. For Ethan, Heisenberg has become a friend. He is well aware his attachment can only ever be one-sided, yet he would not change anything. Heisenberg is free from reliving his own death. Ethan has gained a companion. He may very well be the last thing holding the tatters of Ethan's sanity together.
"Of course you are, idiot." Heisenberg says. He looks over at Ethan, checks him over with a glance. Ethan must sound truly pathetic if Heisenberg is concerned. "We already shook on it and everything."
or: ethan sacrifices himself to save rose. he ends up back in the factory with heisenberg, again and again and again, until he gets it right.
