“What are you?” Felix asked, feeling his phone buzz against his thigh. He stared at his thigh. Then at his shorts. Which had sluttishly stretched up his legs. Then back at the stranger, who was staring at Felix’s thighs as well. “I’m a rugby player.” He pointed at his jersey.
“Right,” the man said, cradling his own Bloody Mary. “I’m a vampire.”
“Ah,” Felix said. A bit out of vogue, he thought, Anne Rice’s poofy, powdered villains clacking around in high-heeled boots across his mind. “Well, where are your fangs?”
“Right here,” the man said, opening his mouth.
Felix sipped his drink and leaned in close, inspecting the man’s unusually long and pointy canines. He wanted to reach out and prod the points, but he didn’t.
“Very cool,” he said, giving the man a thumbs up.

Kun used to be convinced that this was some elaborate scheme because Ten liked him, and he didn’t mind because he likes Ten, too. But Riku is a dongsaeng and Kun was just being nice and they don’t owe each other anything, because Ten doesn’t like him like that anyway. If he did, he’s had over six years to say so. Kun is not compliant in whatever scheme Ten’s cooking up in his mind, whatever weird reason he has for always giving in to jealousy as if Kun isn’t always only ever looking at him.
Kun smooths his hands down his jeans and says, carefully, bitterly, “I’m a lot of people’s ge. I don’t know what you want from me, Ten.” Because he doesn’t.
There’s a unique kind of shame crawling up his throat when he gets into bed that night and is haunted by lips forming around the word gege. It’s been years since he’s been able to hear it in a voice that isn’t Ten’s.
He feels sick to his stomach. But his heart still yearns for something he is not comfortable with putting a name to.
