This is fairly common knowledge, considering his attire, but Maddie didn't make the connection until she overheard him talking about it with some of the other ghosts. Then she notices how much he looks like Danny. How much he sounds like him. How similar their mannerisms are, and their habits, and their sense of humor.
Unfortunately, she still manages to come to some slightly wrong conclusions.

Summary
Fic takes place after the events of LiS2 with the parting ways ending, and Sean gets with Finn in Puerto Lobos. With the coming out of LiS:Reunion, and Max's powers merging timelines, I head cannoned it altered more timelines and realities than just hers and Chloe's (MAX AND CHLOE ARE NOT IN THIS FIC, JUST MAX'S POWERS ARE TO EXPLAIN FOR EVENTS) . Essentially, the timeline of parting ways, and a timeline where Esteban doesn't get killed are merged.
One day Esteban wakes up with this impending sense of dread, having weird and mixed feelings that something is incredibly wrong. Everything appears to be the same for the most part till he discovers he can't find Daniel anywhere in the house, and Sean isn't at the car shop where they work together, nor is he answering his phone at all. Things start getting more muddled and confusing when Sean's old friend, Lyla, comes to Esteban, telling him about the off and merged memories she has, then things start to piece together. With the merge, Daniel and Sean each have their own spliced memories and the family each tries to connect and reunite, before this supernatural event has the chance to reverse itself.
