Summary
He didn’t remember how he got there, straight and still as a board, frozen, paralyzed. His eyes flitted in a desperate, but unsuccessful attempt to understand where he was, and as panic at the realization began to thrash in his chest, a hot breath curled around the nape of his neck. Rotting bone and molded earth licked its way across his skin and burned up his nose until the fear clung to him like tar.
Dipper was always one to travel a little too deep into the woods. But he wonders now, if he ever left them at all. Now with something hunting him, changing him, Mabel and Pacifica rush to save him before the forest drowns him.

From there they feast on blood and tissue until they are satiated or the host is dead.

They’re just friends. Of course they’re just friends. She’s one of his best friends.
He watches as she gracefully dances around the young man whose hand she now holds. Dipper’s not sure how she manages to stay on the tip of her toes like that, but he’s more distracted by the expression on her face than anything else. Has he ever seen her so at peace before? So beautiful? Well of course he’s seen her look so beautiful, his mind supplies unhelpfully. She’s gorgeous.
The music shifts in tone, becomes marginally darker, the horns taking over for the strings as the pair’s dance intensifies alongside Dipper’s thoughts. It reaches a floor, the bass rumbling throughout the theater, and then the strings are back, pulling up his thoughts into a sudden epiphany.
