Summary
The halls are so quiet that you half convince yourself that you’ve gotten out of immediate danger. So of course, right as you’re about the round the next corner, one of the Russians appears, reeling backwards. And then he collapses, a knife sticking out of his neck.
You can’t really worry about that, though, because right after him comes one of the largest men you’ve ever seen. He must catch sight of you out of the corner of his eye, because his head snaps to look at you. You barely register the assault rifle in his hands because his eyes bore into you through the top half of a human skull.
You’re shocked into gasping when a gloved palm touches the side of your face. The rough material helps you settle into your body, just in time to start hyperventilating.
And that’s when things get weird, because Death says, “Easy, lovie. Settle, f’ me, yeah? Deep breaths, like we’ve practiced.”

Summary
Bucky watches and watches. He knows that Sam can see him looking over, despite Sam not bothering to take his eyes off the horizon.
“It’s not something you want,” Bucky says finally, apropos of nothing.
Sam still doesn’t look over. “What isn’t?”
The question is simple and innocuous, but they both know what Bucky’s referring to. It was in between being overwhelmed and frustrated with everything expected of him that Sam had entertained the idea. Bucky knows that Sam wasn’t serious about it. He knows. But he wants Sam to acknowledge it too—to confirm it.
Repeat after me, Sam, he thinks with the weight of someone who’s going on eighty years of having bioengineered poison coursing through his veins, I do not want the super-soldier serum.

Summary
He’s been marked by Ghost in many different ways. Spit and cum and bite marks and blood and bruises—and on one memorable occasion, a knife when he begged Ghost to give him something that would last. The initials SR are gouged into his left inner thigh, and the look Ghost gave him when he was done made Soap feel like he could swallow the sun, more powerful than God with double His achievements in a fraction of the time.
It doesn’t even occur to Soap that there’s a way he’s missing.
Ghost pisses on Soap.
