Summary
It takes them some time to pick themselves up. They’re shaking and stumbling like newborn fawns. They sit, breathless, leaning against each other, like they have so many times before—but not like this, never before like this, having been brought to the doorstep of hell and back by each other’s hand.
Edward’s head lolls to the side. His temple presses against Izzy’s chin. The air between them shimmers with heat steaming off their skin. Izzy wants to shed his body and curl up in that space between them, never to feel cold again.
“Damn you, Iz,” Edward whispers into his neck. “You’ll be the death of me one day.”
As you’ll be mine.
Five times Izzy and Ed practice sword fighting together; none of which are really about sword fighting at all, but Izzy doesn’t believe in talking about feelings. He finds it much more therapeutical to stab about them instead.
It's always been enough. Until it isn't.
