“I'm okay!” He tried. “I'll come out shortly! You go ahead!”
“What the hell?!”
“I promise!”
“I can't believe it!” He heard noises outside, the same person cursing loudly. “Tachihara! The axe!”

“Breathe,” Chuuya says. “This is gonna hurt like a bitch.”
Dazai’s lips twitch. “Doesn’t Chuuya have anything for me to bite on?”
Chuuya pauses despite himself. “…I thought that,” he starts, then stops. He clears his throat, eyes flicking briefly to the floor before coming back to Dazai’s face. “Because of Dostoyevsky. I thought maybe—”
Dazai waves one hand dismissively, the motion weak but sharp with irritation. “Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because that holier-than-thou demon’s been leaving me gagged for days, you think I wouldn’t want anything in my mouth.”
He grins when he says it. It’s a perfect imitation—angle of the mouth, familiar lilt—but his eyes are flat, glassy in a way that has nothing to do with humor. “I don’t,” he adds. Then, after a beat: “I also don’t want Chuuya to hear me scream.”
or: dazai gets kidnapped and tortured. chuuya gets him back, and realizes that care is just another kind of exposure. the kiss might be a mistake. or it might not. it’s also inevitable.

Summary
Dazai isn’t human. But how could an inhuman being draw him towards such raw feeling of anger? How could an inhuman being hold such a tender and sweet tone in his voice? Maybe all inhuman beings are truly monsters hiding away their inhumanity, covering themselves up and pretending to be human. But Dazai never denied his inhumanity. Could that make him appear more human?
Chuuya isn’t human. But how could a killing machine feel such emotions like joy, hatred and sorrow? How could a God, so self-centred, feel sympathy for the weak? If he’s truly a men-made creation full of strings and codes, today’s technology must be at its highest point. But Chuuya couldn’t be a machine. How could he bring himself to hate a men-made machine?
Or…
Story of Dazai and Chuuya growing on eachother, building themselves up and their relationship. Helplessly falling in love, while admiring each others humanity, hoping to posses it. And once they think they have it all, the same fate that brought them together, mercilessly tore them apart.

Dazai blinked. “Sluggy?”
“He’s a slug,” Chuuya said, like it was obvious. “But he’s brave.”
Dazai didn’t take it right away. He didn’t even move. But the next thunderclap made the whole shelf tremble—and Dazai’s hands moved on their own. He reached out. Took the slug. Buried his face in it.
It smelled like nap blanket and apple. And maybe something else. Like playground dirt. Like warm sun on your back during recess.
