    Summary

Gale is a survivalist romance author who writes about love after the end of the world. He's a divorcee who has plans B through G for power failure, but no Plan A for getting laid. Astarion is a former artist who decided to winter in the northern Michigan lake house he got in his divorce. He's not exactly rural-winter ready. When a massive blizzard knocks out power across the community, Gale—seeing Astarion's dark McMansion—trudges through the blizzard to prevent his idiot neighbor from freezing to death, but they'll both keep each other warm in the end.

This low-stakes, cozy, modern, the-Ant-and-the-Grasshopper AU softens both Astarion's and Gale's traumatic pasts to gaslighting, controlling exes who leave them lonely until they discover their strange neighbor is a better fit than they had imagined.

Note: In case you are unfamiliar with the fable of the Ant and the Grasshopper, the Ant prepares for winter by working all summer, while the Grasshopper wastes the summer singing and having fun. In the oldest tellings, the Grasshopper gets cold and hungry in the winter and goes to the Ant for food and shelter, but the Ant scolds him and turns him away. In our version, of course, the Ant is a bit kinder 😉

    Summary

Ilya hums, playing the card he's been considering for this entire conversation. “We could make more interesting, yes? A bet.”

“A bet,” Shane repeats, eyes flashing. “Like what?”

The reporter cuts in. “What about wearing the other player’s jersey?”

They both turn to her, and Shane says, “Like, the loser wears the winner’s jersey?”

“Maybe at the next game in a couple of months?”

“Is a good idea,” Ilya muses, nudging Shane’s elbow. “You will look better in my jersey than in Montreal jersey.”

Shane makes a low noise, his eyes holding a bit of a spark when he looks back to Ilya. It’s what Ilya was hoping for—the tiniest crack in the mask. He can see a hint of exasperated affection around the corners of Shane’s eyes, a little bit of fire burning just beneath the surface. It sends a thrill down Ilya’s spine, and he wonders if Shane will be snarky when Ilya gets him naked tonight.

“That’s not happening,” Shane replies, shaking his head. “Because you’re not winning.”

    Ilya should have known better.

    Summary

Ilya Rosanov gets added to a group chat under the wrong name and doesn’t correct it.

The Montreal WAGs are open and inviting.
What follows isn’t a lie so much as a pattern — one that becomes harder to undo the longer it goes on.

    No one knows the truth.
Not the hockey world, and not the group chat.

    Until they do.

By the time it arrives, everyone is already involved.

    Summary

Ilya’s smirk grew. “Whoever wins MVP gets anything they want.”

    Shane’s brows furrowed. “Anything?”

“Anything,” Ilya repeated, his eyes gleaming. “If you win, you can ask for anything you want.”

A thrill went down his spine. “And I’m guessing you already have something in mind if you’ve suggested this bet.”

Instead of responding, Ilya leaned down and kissed him—a filthy, obscene kiss that left his dick twitching pathetically against his thigh despite the fact he was completely spent.

    “You will see, Hollander.”

    “You’re on, Rozanov.”

And, at the time, Shane really did feel good about his chances—orgasm haze aside.

Now, standing in the bathroom of a Vegas hotel suite, he almost cursed his own damn competitiveness.

    .

Or, a bet was made and Shane is a good sportsman. That is the only reason he is putting on Rozanov's jersey. Promise.

    Summary

"That bad?" Astarion teases, shifting to lean into Gale's space. Not that there's much of it to begin with in this cramped booth.

Gale didn't expect Astarion to follow him when he fled the dance floor after a few minutes of clumsy, half-hearted shuffling. Gale isn't the type of person who goes out drinking and dancing, but this is Astarion's element. Normally he'd be flitting around the bar, all sly smiles and pale, effervescent skin shining under strobe lights.

"That bad," Gale affirms with mock-seriousness. "It's cruel and unusual punishment to drag an introvert to a place like this."

    -OR-

Gale and Astarion leave together, with very different ideas in mind.
