Summary
Verso knows his soul is not original to him. A stitched-up, fractured, and glued-together thing, stained with memories not his own and heavy with the grief of unimaginable loss. His very existence is a farce, a tragedy played out in canvas and ink. He wants nothing so much as to end it. To give the ragged remains of a soul back to the one who created him, let her find someone else to carry the burden and the memory of the man to whom it once belonged. And yet. And yet, still, buried deep inside him is the desire to make this second-hand soul his own. To take the old discarded thing and make it into something new. To live, as they all deserve to live. All he needs is someone to show him the way.

Summary
"I'm leaving Paris," Verso says brusquely, by way of a greeting. He has never been very good with words; that has always been Papa's strength, not his.Gustave inhales sharply, watching him in silence, his hands clutching his notebook so hard the spine begins to twist.
"You want me to come with you," he says finally, looking at Verso as though he has entirely lost his mind.
Or:
Time is running out. With war looming over Belle Epoque Paris, Verso must make a choice between his duty to his family and the young Writer who has unknowingly stolen his heart.

Summary
In a city bright with the progress of the Belle Époque, Verso lives in self-imposed shadow, grief-stricken by the 'written' fire that claimed his sister. He pours his anguish into his piano, hiding from a secret war between those who paint substance and those who write destiny.
As a brilliant structural engineer, Gustave believes a beam fails because of stress, not sorcery. But when he begins to notice a pattern of architectural disasters plaguing Montmartre, his need to fix the flaws inadvertently threatens a powerful faction manipulating Paris from the shadows.
Marked for death because he refuses to accept their narrative, Gustave is pulled into Verso’s dangerous world. The pragmatist and the artist forge a partnership: Gustave provides the logic to expose the lie, while Verso finds the courage to pick up his brush and shield the man who has become his tether to the world. Together, they must dismantle a conspiracy written in stone before the ink dries on Gustave’s final chapter.

Summary
Verso didn't expect to meet his soulmate in a bakery. He also didn't expect said soulmate to be the only man in the capital unable to recognize the crown prince by name.
He isn't complaining, this is the first time in years he's been able to exist as himself and not as an extension of his family.
Surely, it won't hurt to keep up the pretense for a little while?

Summary
In the corner of the cellar, there was a man.
He was huddled and curled as much into a ball as he could manage, but one hand was fixed to the wall with a chain so short that he had no choice but to leave the limb outstretched and pitifully exposed. His hair was dark, copious, and bloody.
He was also supposed to be dead.
