Summary
He was born to die, the doctors muttered, despairing fatigue heavy on their voices, as they stared at a baby which did not cry. It stared, on and on, day after day, mouth opening and shutting silently around screams, appearing so thick with agony, that his voice couldn’t reproduce them. This poor kid, they would whisper, as they called number after number, trying to find his family, he was born to die.
Test after test, as blood was drawn out of a deteriorating body, which, in the shadows of night, appeared almost grey. The doctors didn’t understand, couldn’t understand. Who had heard of a baby which was born fearing life? What sort of child came out of the womb bearing the weight of decades in eyes only just opened?
Under their breath, as they sat in the chair next to the bed, they would whisper stories of past heroes, as if they could bring strength to the child with words of valour only. Telling of demons and saviours, of hurt maidens and monsters who bore the skin of men, of stories of righteous vengeance, they did all they could.
It wasn't enough.

“Don’t you?” asked Timothy, his head cocked to the side, as he took in Tim, who, despite hours preparing for this, still didn’t look as good as he did, “I think you’ll find that you’re mistaken.” His words were venomous, hiding behind cordiality and manners.
“I’m a Wayne,” Tim repeated. “The others will be there to support me. I don’t need to do everything alone,” he said, aware that he stood by himself in his old bedroom of Wayne Manor, about to enter a gala he organised, hoping that his family stuck to the lines and narratives which he had given them.

It had been seven years since Tim, aged eighteen, had joined the League of Assassins with the sole aim of tearing it down to its foundations.
It had been two years since he had created the League of Balance, gutting Ra’s al Ghul on his own throne.
Tim pushed open the door to his chambers, checking that the figure, who had been sleeping in the bed next to his own when he left, was still there.

Because as far as you can tell, you are suddenly in Eiichiro Oda's fictional world of One Piece and being pulled out of a treasure chest by none other than Whitebeard himself and, oh yeah, you're a baby. Like literally an infant... You're just going to have to see where this goes.
