Summary
I have seen much pandemonium in my lifetime, Africa, the outback, the bush, but none of them is quite as unique as the mayhem I have entered a few days prior. The Holmes Clinic is not what many would think of when you’d think professional or specialists, it is more excellent disorder than anything else, that is something I can work with. Watson is a man that many respect, but in my professional opinion he is crazier than his friend he once wrote about. He is brilliant in a way many will never understand except those closest to him. I never have wished to be part of a legacy like this, but the man watches me work with a look in his eyes that suggests I may not have a choice sooner or later. After all, the man does not take no for an answer.

Summary
He turns the keys in the door, slowly letting it glide open in its usual, groaning way. His home was quiet just as he liked it, but as he stood in the doorway of his darkened room, the silence felt different, stifling. Instead of loneliness the silence was full of unspoken tension, but the real tell something was amiss was beside him. Athena, the calmest, most patient dog in the world, and absolutely unafraid of nothing stood beside him bristling. She didn’t growl, didn’t fuss, but her broad head was pointed to the kitchen where an unwarranted breeze flowed and ebbed creating more suspicion in the psychiatrist’s mind.
“Thena,’ he murmured to the dog tone nearly silent in a way he had used in war zones back in Africa. His service dog turns at her name green eye, meeting his own, at attention just itching for a command. ‘Search.” he finishes quietly letting go of her lead and she trots off; Xander knowing his huge dog would most likely frighten anyone in the house, especially since she was trained not to take anything from strangers.

Summary
"I figured that neither of us should celebrate alone tonight.” she shrugs, trying so hard to sound off hand or detached. The act would have worked on anyone else, but Xander could hear the slight nervousness there, like she was slightly worried he’d refuse.
He ponders this for a moment, “Suppose company would not be worst,” he shrugs. It isn’t by a long shot the worst new year had been the one in Africa, and considering he had a roof over his head and there was no active shooting it was already lightyears better.
“I’d sure hope not shrink,” Ingrid snickers, before turning towards the tv, “Do you even know what you’re watching?

Summary
Adam rambles on about anything and everything the psychiatrist could ever imagine, but what really catches Xander’s attention was something he had noticed often when anything negative happened, Adam would backtrack and replace it with anything positive. The paraplegic man could recall it many times especially between Stephens who was much more pessimistic. Adam dismissed them. “I mean Ingrid did nearly kill my brother and I, but deep down I understand so who am I to hold a grudge? We all mess up at—”
“You talk much,’ he finally interrupts, “Words not always show true emotion though.” he states.

Summary
For a moment all that could be heard was the near silent ticking of Watson’s wall clock, “Dr. Durham, I must say you did some incredible work today,” Watson starts a knowing smile on his face. “You did not mention, you had emergency knowledge.”
Xander held his gaze, confused, “Did not mean to, how you say… overstep anything sir.” Xander mutters before ducking his head to look at his ever-steadfast service dog that leaned against his wheelchair unmoving, Athena’s eyes watching Watson like a sentry protecting a valuable object.
“Not at all, but pray tell me Doctor Durham, why did you not mention your advanced knowledge in emergency medicine.” he asks, not accusing, just deeply curious, “We have been acquainted for months now, your knowledge could have been much sooner here at the Holmes Clinic.”
