    Kon is struggling to keep his kryptonian quirks in his control. The unknown cause bringing him to Gotham. As Batman works to figure it out a cure he is stuck in city and worse, going to school there. At least it will only be for a few months max, then he's back to soaring around, seeing his friends, back to his normal life, and gone from this boring city. Besides he finds an interesting person to hang around while stuck here.

    Tim is confused. The universe had to be messing with him. Because that was Kon. Standing in his classroom. Which no, absolutely not, it shouldn’t be. Kon was supposed to be going to his small town school in Smallville, and if for whatever reason he wasn’t there then he should be in Metropolis. Not Gotham, not at his school, and definitely not his class.

    From what Steph told him, Bernard was a nice enough guy. A little boring, but nothing bad. Kon just didn’t get what Tim saw in him, somebody like Tim deserved more than some boring, no secret identity having, Physics and Biology major. Tim deserved… someone Super.

    Sue him, okay? He’s had this crush for almost as long as he’d been alive- He’s allowed to be a little uppity about this whole thing.

    Tim tried not to let it bother him that he didn’t know who his teammates were, under their masks. He knew that was how it had to be. But they were still his best friends, and he didn’t know them. They didn’t know him.

    And, well. Them seeing him as strictly “Robin” made situations like this all the more difficult.

    Tim's teammates don't know his secret identity -- which would be fine, except he keeps having chance encounters with Superboy. Navigating that, along with the fact that he maybe-just-a-little-bit is developing feelings for said best friend is… strenuous.

    Tim Drake is a solitary creature, whether by necessity or by natural predisposition. But he’s good at being alone. He’s learned to enjoy his own company, to take solace in his own cognizance. Aided by the brisk air of Gotham’s night air and a thrilling sense of independence, Tim learns that some things feel more special when you get to keep them for yourself. Unaccompanied walks down the school halls and singular movie tickets and dinners-for-one aren’t so bad when he can entertain himself with his own thoughts.

    Tim has become so good at being alone, he can almost pretend he isn’t desperate for the unconditional love and companionship that a soulmate would guarantee.

    It would be nice, Tim thinks, to have someone in his life who actually wants him. Someone who won’t leave every chance they get. Someone who enjoys his presence instead of merely tolerating it. Someone for whom he isn’t an obligation.

    Still his wrist remains blank.

    Until it doesn't.
