Blankly, they continued to gaze at the walls, of Asriel’s certificates and trophies, the glow in the dark stars he’d never quite been able to take down, still scared of the dark. Then their side of the room, no certificates in sight, just old piano exercise books, boxes full of drawings, and then a framed picture from Christmas a couple of years ago. Them, Asriel, Noelle, and … Dess.
Or the author overthinks about why Kris' side of the room is empty.

The shopping mall had been loud. The constant whirr of what Luz had called the “aircon”, the music being blasted out of the speakers. The stench, the buzz and quite simply, just the presence of people. But he’d kept it in. The urge to scream and flap his hands and break down. Even Uncle would’ve been proud. But now they were back at the house.
