When Lance first put on the mask, he never knew it would go this far.
He never knew how important a hero would be to his home. New York was a huge place, with huge amounts of crime. A hero brought people hope. With every petty thief he took down, more people realized he was the hope they needed. But of course, with every mad scientist he got involved with, people would start to view him as an enemy. It was a vicious and grueling cycle of finding out there was a bad guy, the whole city gets mad at him for letting the bad guy go, he then defeats the bad guy, and everyone loves him. It was a draining cycle.
And the only person he could talk to about it was gone.

“Can I tell you something personal?” Keith blurted out. Lance sat silently for a moment. He opened his mouth to interrupt Keith and tell him he had to go, but Keith continued on before he had a chance.
“I got accepted into my dream college. California Institute of the Arts. I was so excited but…” Keith trailed off. Lance sat still next to him in shock. Keith got into California Insitute of the Arts? He should be thrilled!
“What’s bad about that? That’s exciting news!” Lance tried to encourage him. Keith shook his begrudgingly.
“If I accept, that means I have to move across the country. I’ll have to leave my friends and my brother… I’ll have to leave my boyfriend.”
