“And here I thought every boy had bad handwriting,” she chuckled silently to herself. She had to admit, the lettering vastly contrasted its writer. In fact, Willow knew that in the very back of the classroom the blond was sitting, most likely hunched over a book, a headphone in one ear and a leather jacket over his back. Aside from a few times the teacher had called on him, she doesn’t think she had ever heard him speak or even acknowledge another student in any way. Even someone as abrasive as Boscha couldn’t break through the wall of silence, leather and indifference. And, well, there was one more thing that came to mind when Willow thought about her classmate. Something she wished she could ignore, but proved to be too noticeable to not think about. She shook the thought from her head, ashamed that she would think such shallow thoughts without even knowing the person in question.

Summary
Hunter's first Grom night is, in a word, enchanting.
The auditorium looks amazing. Fairy lights married with ivy garland lining the walls. Paper moons and stars suspended from the ceiling. Curtains in shades of teal and midnight blue emblazoned with bright yellow stars and crescent moons draped across the stage where a live band plays, music thrumming like thunder in Hunter's chest.
Wild how different it is compared to the last time Hunter stood in this room, bolting through a school-wide illusion to rescue a then stranger, now brother from a corrupted coven head, tugged into his first-ever hug by the same girl who now stands opposite him, arms wrapped around his neck, head resting against his chest as his heart beats a giddy staccato against his ribcage.
It's a little overwhelming how good this all feels, and he keeps having to remind himself that this is real, that he actually gets to have this, marveling at the fact that she's here with him, that he asked her and she said yes, the way she keeps calling him that magic word — boyfriend — in front of everyone they know.
