you’d hoped he felt the same warmth as you did though, calling the apartment your home. It had only been a year and some months since you'd found bucky again, and you hadn’t expected the two of you to fit so perfectly together in civilian life.
he looked too good to be true, you thought sometimes, when he came home with his henley shirt covered in grease stains. You took it upon yourself to buy him a new pair of jeans so you could stitch the other pair while he was away at work.
you’d never admit it, but you loved the way he smelled after work. It was gross, you knew that, but you told yourself it was the mix of car grease and his sweat, the same smell that drove you wild in 1940.
it made you feel wild now, when he walked through the door, looking handsome as ever. It didn't help that he wanted to keep his hair the same mid length, pulled behind his ears under the ball cap.
