And he's spent years working very hard to keep it that way, because the truth is the last thing he is, is normal.
No, Steve Harrington has a dark past he's desperate to escape, however that gets much harder when Will Byers goes missing and Steve just can’t shake the feeling that something is very wrong in Hawkins, something that's pointing straight to his past. But everything will be fine, right? All he has to do is pretend everything is normal.

Summary
Steve was having a horrible week… well more like a horrible few years. Ever since he went swinging head first into the upside down with his nail bat his life changed forever. There’s no going back to “normal” when there are super powered kids, monsters from another universe, and human monsters conducting government coverups. Steve had tried, he had tried so hard to hold on to his normal but as Nancy had spat at him while drunk in a bathroom on Halloween a few years back, normal was “bullshit” and far overrated.

She huffs, frustrated, bouncing on her feet with anger, a teenager again. An annoyed teenager, at that. God, no wonder she and Dustin are friends.

Summary
Steve Harrington is pulled into the Upside Down and spends a year alone, fighting to survive. But soon Will Byers joins him, but he isn't the last.
Eventually, the whole party accidentally find themselves trapped in the Upside Down, and it is up to Steve to help them protect themselves.
OR Steve and the whole party get trapped in the Upside Down. Steve, along with his nail bat, becomes leader and gifts each party member a weapon to defend themselves.
