Summary
Jakes has spent the past five years regretting leaving Morse behind the way he did. It's a regret that's repeating itself today, as he wades through Jim's wedding in Morse's place, and Morse goes off to Blenheim Vale to save the day. Alone. As always.
It had made sense this morning, Morse needed someone he could trust to keep an eye on the wedding, as he headed off to broker a stand-down. It makes less sense to him now, as the day draws to a close, and Morse is yet to make an appearance. Peter sets off to find him, and hopes he isn't too late.
It all comes back to Blenhaim Vale. It always does.
