Trepidation returns at the thought of making himself leave the relative safety of his tree-shade.
What Astarion would like to say is ‘go away’.
What he actually says is, “Of course! Now that I know I’m among fellow mages I wouldn’t mind discussing the craft over a nice stroll!”
After Astarion falls from the Nautiloid, he ends up somewhere new entirely. Namely, he ends up in Sunnydale not long after a certain group of vampire hunters start college there. Surprisingly enough, nobody gets killed.

Unfortunately, while Charlie's faith is strong, her friends, staff, singular tenant and even her girlfriend can't seem to find the same faith for themselves, even if a few desperately want to. Perhaps another soul, one who has maintained faith even in Hell itself, might be able to tip the scales?

Jazz had been prepared to die in a million gruesome ways and fight for his life in a million more when he agreed to do this. Jumping into the alien portal spitting out the giant death machines they'd been fighting for the last two decades wasn't really a great idea after all. But they were out of passive options, so he'd said all his goodbyes, made the government promise to put his death to good use if he didn't come back, and sent it.
Of all the things, ending up stranded in a desert and blindly following a group of sinfully rich alien pilots (because they definitely didn't speak any Earthen language) was not one he had planned for.
At least they also seemed to be dealing with the same giant evil alien problem as Earth.

She struggles to accustom herself to this strange world, but manages to retain her sanity around this group of impulsive weirdos with spider powers through sheer force of will. Even still, despite being so far removed from even the concept of a "spider-man," she finds herself feeling a certain kinship towards the individuals she meets in their shared responsibility of protecting their chosen cities. A hard won respect that she takes back with her to Hallownest.
