“I’m so tired, Crowley,” Aziraphale whispered, “I wish I could sleep like you do.”
Seconds tripped by awkwardly, time warped into minutes.
“You can,” Crowley’s throat was dry, “I mean, I wouldn’t move, if you did.”
For a moment, he prayed. Crowley prayed that the darkness meant something different: for it to be his hand and not the coat Aziraphale gripped so tightly, head on his shoulder to simply rest because it was preferable, that he was with him simply because he wanted to be.
The Lord had not granted Crowley's prayers in a very long time, he thought, if She ever had.

Crowley knows exactly what he wants. Aziraphale pretends not to know what he means, and for sixty centuries, at that. That is, how and when, and even why, does one pose the question, "Will you sleep with me?"

In a moment, he let go. Thor almost had him, had one arm pinned and was ready to ride it out until Loki came to his senses, but they flipped. A hand clasped his neck. Nails dug into his trachea and diverted his attention long enough that he failed to stop what happened next.

The fact that Dean bothers to stroke his cheekbone after striking it, even if he hasn’t let up his bone-crushing pace, motivates a kind of curiosity within the possessed man that Jimmy perceives with dim horror. The curiosity of the chosen victim, Castiel thinks: certain only of inconsistency.
Castiel has hurtled through the vortex for eons, shunted into one incarnation of Jimmy or another at the moment where Dean is closest. The brief quiet of their moments together is always assailed by whatever latest tragedy is meant to overcome their union.
