He knew Peter was an... anxious kid, to say the least. He knew he'd been through more than any kid deserved to at his age - or any age, really. He knew Peter wasn't used to being open about his powers, or his spider-manning, or just - life in general. But Tony had hoped that by now, after all they'd been through together, peter might feel a bit... safer, around him.
Alas, (really, Tony?) there wasn’t much he could do about that but stick around. Be supportive. Remind Peter he was there to talk whenever.
So, no big deals, no big worries.
Until, of course, the Big Deal happened.

And suddenly, it clicks. His eyes widen.
"...And you didn't want to," he realises.
Peter is sobbing harder now- not with sadness, or fear, or despair, as he'd thought- but with relief. With joy. He nods.
"I didn't want to."
