Summary
When Steve Rogers joined a group of do-gooder outlaws calling themselves "The Avengers", he hadn't expected much. A place to hide from his desertion of the Union army. Maybe even a chance to help people by taking down petty bandits in the sparsely populated territories of the western United States. He never expected to find his childhood best friend working with the worst of the worst, a gang known as Hydra. And he certainly didn't expect anything that happened after.

What do you do when you find out you love somebody, and they don't let you? Sometimes losing them hurts too bad. Sometimes you can't move forward.

AU where Bucky doesn't get blipped in Infinity War
Partly inspired/name taken from Whiskey Lullaby by Brad Paisley (song)
This is self-indulgent so I decided super soldiers CAN get drunk because I'm EVIL. Also if you remember what happened at the beginning of Endgame FORGET IT because I sure didn’t (this is NOT canon compliant)

Summary
Three months after a viral outbreak transforms the world into a graveyard of abandoned cities and wandering Hollows, Steve Harrington survives alone—until a chance encounter in a crumbling alley changes everything. Eddie Munson, wild-haired and wielding twin blades like he was born for the apocalypse, saves Steve's life and offers him something he'd almost forgotten existed: hope.
A story about finding love in the ruins, building home from nothing, and learning that survival means more than just staying alive.

"Tell me a story."
A life in ten words. If you could condense it, if it were possible, who would you trust them with? Who would you pick to know them, speak them; to translate your own words to you after you've forgotten their original meaning?
Three years after the Battle of New York, Alexander Pierce is the President of the United States and the leader of the Global Crisis Council. Having lost its Avengers, the world remains quiet in the face of mass exterminations by the newly built Trinity weapon.
The Black Widow sends Steve Rogers, the dearly not-quite-departed Captain America, on a mission to help an old friend. Steve’s memories, and his willingness to confront them, might hold the key to recovering crucial intel to bring about Hydra’s final defeat.
…or, the one in which Steve has to help Bucky decode the Winter Soldier's activation words and realizes they're all about him.

Summary
'Why can't I seem to die?'
The thought floated through Steve's swirling mind, and he started to laugh through his tears. God he was a mess, but suddenly he couldn't stop laughing. Steve Rogers, the premature infant, the sickly boy, the stubborn asshole couldn't seem to die. It wasn't like he was holding onto life particularly hard. His Ma was the strongest person he ever met, and even she was gone first. Why was he still here? Why on earth did he deserve to be here in place of anyone else that had died before him?
-----
Captain America. The myth. The legend. The mask.
But what about Steve Rogers? What about the suffering young man who took up the mantle? What about the man who believes he deserves nothing less than to die?

“He just had the really strong feeling that he really should have stepped off the train.”
Wow.
I think about this one quite literally all the time. You’ll know the scene when you get to it, when they mention “Irish skin.” -

He really doesn't realize they are not alone anymore until Steve starts talking, already entering the living room.
“Hey Buck, d’you wanna go to the pictures tonight? They’re showing Frankenstein again, and I know you how much you love-”
Bucky freezes for a split second before jerking backwards, shoving Vincent off of him, and standing and turning to face Steve in one smooth move.
Or: Steve walks in on something Bucky wished he hadn't

Summary
In the aftermath of New York, the freshly formed team is still trying to figure out how to live and work together without some kind of property damage.
Naturally, nothing says 'Team Bonding' like the decision to fix their fearless leader's love-life and hunt down an AWOL Steve Rogers.
Or, the Thunderbolts break a few timelines, attempt to un-fuck history, and decide they maybe, possibly, kinda tolerate each other in the process.
