I can’t get enough of golden retriever Cap. It’s so important to me that this author focuses on very specific manifestations of his trauma (water/coldness being a trigger, being alone as a trigger/generally something that makes him uncomfortable).

James Barnes knocked Steve out and returned him to Nick Fury's doorstep with an honest to god note pinned to his uniform: You lost this.

'Why can't I seem to die?'
The thought floated through Steve's swirling mind, and he started to laugh through his tears. God he was a mess, but suddenly he couldn't stop laughing. Steve Rogers, the premature infant, the sickly boy, the stubborn asshole couldn't seem to die. It wasn't like he was holding onto life particularly hard. His Ma was the strongest person he ever met, and even she was gone first. Why was he still here? Why on earth did he deserve to be here in place of anyone else that had died before him?
