Emma's parents were murdered when she was a child. Seemingly by chance, she runs into a stranger who makes her feel like life is okay for a little while. But his secrets may threaten to disrupt everything in her already lonely life.
Bucky is working on completing his list of amends. When he meets the young woman whose parents he killed during his time as the Winter Soldier, he can’t help but be drawn to her despite his guilt. Just as he has difficulty with admitting the truth to Yori, he can’t seem to tell her, afraid it’ll drive her away from him for good.
Story starts a few months before TFATWS, and will eventually lead into the show. I like to try to stick to canon as much as possible but there will be some minor differences of course.

Bucky ran into his ghosts all the time.
They crept up on him in his nightmares, oh yes, but the faces of mere passersby would become his victims. Simply walking along the street, trying to get some fresh air, would be a cause for anxiety, a chance for the trauma to bubble up again. The list of his crimes went on and on. It was even scarier because now, people seemed to love him. His victims would walk right up to him and thank him for his service, and he would fight the need to flee the hallucination.
The faces of people he’d taken the lives of would never leave him alone. He knew that.
But Bucky had never literally run into a ghost of his before.
Taking place six months after the first season of The Falcon and Winter Soldier, Bucky decides to cross another name off of his list when it bumps into him at shoulder-height on a busy New York sidewalk.
