“Evan?” The man asked hesitantly.
Evan only hummed in response, eyes glued to the forest. Not in fear but almost as an afterthought.
“How-“ Jammer tried to ask, before stopping himself, changing his approach. “What happened after I left?” He asked quietly, barely audible over the gushing rain.
He kept his head looking towards the forest, closing his eyes in thought. What didn’t happen? He could talk about his internship with Doctor boodle. Could reference his days as an apprentice, intern, explorer and odd job taker. Could talk about feeling the hit of magic disappearing when he was in the source of where all magic was. But he knew the man wasn’t asking about that. The unspoken question was ‘what happened to us?’ He could avoid the question, ignore it, fake a nap. But he needed to say it. Needed to speak what happened aloud. Was it closure, or a way to assure himself it wasn’t his fault?
“When you left things changed...” He whispered taking his eyes off the forest to stare at his feet.
He heard a shallow intake of breath from beside him. The man having feared his answer and the subsequent truth.

1. She was apparently soul-bonded to a dragon. Which was cool because dragons were the best.
2. She had a cat now. He was cute and fluffy and could talk.

2. She was now a cat mom but her cat was an absolute bastard set on eating them into debt
3. She was magicless, homeless and penniless in a world that was not her own
4. Where were her anti-depressants?
5. Did she mention the dragon? Because the dragon is so goddamn cool but also might kill her one day.
