The amount of raised eyebrows in the room was… upsetting, to say the least.
“What happened to ‘Yeah, I’m gay, but I do have standards?’” Hazel asked, disbelief lacing her voice.
“I settled.” Nico replied immediately, holding his sister's gaze for all of two seconds before yelping and looking back at Leo, who may or may not have kicked him in the shin. “Kidding! I'm kidding.” He held his hands up in front of him. “Obviously, the… um… pining… was unbearable. And, deeply hidden, of course.”

Or, Leo needs a fake-date for a wedding. Nico's willing, but their chemistry is... less than ideal. Will is incredibly gullible, and Jason is having a sudden realization about himself. (Not a Valdangelo fic. They're besties but not lovers)

“Well, get up.” His feet have started to tap. Nico smothers his stupid widening grin into his hand — it’s not cute, it’s not. It’s dumb and embarrassing and ridiculous. Gods. What a freaking theatre kid.
Nico peeks one eye open, and Will is standing, shirt on backwards, scratching his calf, staring at the faintly-glowing altar in the back corner. His pupils are dilated.
“I want ice cream.”
“It’s witching hour, William.”
“You like witching hour.”
Fair.
“Plus! Ice cream.” He turns to face Nico, and he still can’t see, that at least Nico knows for sure, but he tilts his head and cocks his hip like he can. “Ice cream, Death Boy. Three a.m. bad decisions. Look me in the eye and tell me you’re not frothing at the mouth.”

Nico, refusing to answer verbally, spreads his arms. Will uses his working eyeballs to determine ‘this’ is a soft blanket that is 100% stolen directly from the Aphrodite cabin, spread carefully over the grass of the nicest clearing in the woods. ‘This’ is a picnic basket full of what Will assumes is Twizzlers, if Nico loves him.
“Tis not,” Nico promises. “I brought you vegetables and whole grains and all the other bullshit you harp about me eating, you massive hypocrite.”
‘This’, Will notices, ignoring him, is a folded letter with his name on it and a portable radio playing the nearest country station.
Next time you overwork yourself I’m knocking you unconscious and chaining you to your bed for three days, reads the note. Make better choices. Dickbrain.
“Charming,” Will says. He presses the letter to his chest and pretends to swoon. Nico lets him fall and bang his skull on the ground, but Will internalizes the pain and commits to the bit like a real man. “My very own Romeo, taking care of me so well. Oh, my heart, my heart.”

The sparkle in question may simply be the reflection of the tip of the dagger that has appeared in his non-sword hand, which appears to be made of sharpened human bone. Lou Ellen wonders, morbidly, what bone it is for about point three seconds before Will sways — genuinely sways! — and says, “And the way he handles that femur! Oh!”
“Dude,” she says, aghast. “Will, man, get ahold of yourself.”
There’s a thunk as her best friend throws himself dramatically upon the ground. His wrist is poised delicately on his forehead, face twisted pitifully. She rolls her eyes hard enough that she actually goes blind for a brief second and falls off the bench in panic. Will seems pleased that she’s joined him on the floor.
“I can’t. He’s too beautiful.”
Lou Ellen cranes up her neck.
“A nine year old just looked at him and cried.”
His sigh is more wistful than dreamy, this time. “He’s gonna be a great dad someday.”

“Nope! I’m just —” He softens. “I’m glad you’re taking a break, Willy. We’ve been worried about you. Remind me to send him a lock pick set.”
