“Holy shit, dude,” Hayden whispers, too loudly, as he pulls Shane away. “No way you were just talking to Ilya Rozanov.”
“Uh, yeah. We just met. Wait, did he lie to me?” Shane asks, looking back over his shoulder where Ilya is now standing next to a short but very muscular woman with long black hair. “What does he play?”
Hayden stops, so Shane does too.
“You don’t know who that was?”
Shane makes a face that says ‘no shit’, and waits for an answer.
“Dude. You are so innocent. Ilya Rozanov, ‘Russia’s Greatest Love Machine’?” Hayden says, like it’s obvious.
Shane looks at him blankly, and then Hayden laughs. Not like, a chuckle. He full on cackles, bending over like he can’t even contain it. “Man, he’s like prolific.”
“At what?” Shane snaps, because he’s getting really sick of not being in on the joke.
“He’s a porn star, man.”
“A-” Shane says, swallowing thickly. “What?”

“A flower shop? Why do you get the sex shop? And I’m—I’m selling flowers.” Hollander’s nose scrunches up, like he can’t imagine anything worse than floral arrangements. Like he’d be the one running a dildo store.
“Because I am the sexy one. You are—boring, like I say. These writers—they know this. They are” —he gestures, searching for the word— “insight. Perceptive.”
A rosy flush appears along the ridges of Hollander’s cheekbones. Soft pink behind a constellation of freckles. Fucking lethal. “Right. Yeah. This sounds dumb. And it’s an invasion of privacy.”
Not this again. “Do you own actual flower shop?”
Hollander looks panicked, like he might have forgotten if one of his properties houses a florist. “No, I—”
“Then is not invasion. Story is very hot, very sexy. Let me tell you. I will read.”

Ilya right clicks on a tactical table he’s half-filled in for the new Finnish Junior recruit - its margins filled with sprawling commentary on his strengths and weaknesses on the ice - and pastes a copy into the page he’s titled Hollander, Shane.
He deletes all of the previous information from the table. He won’t be needing any of that. Ilya stares at the screen again, his face flushing slightly, feeling unexpectedly giddy.
