Summary
In the aftermath of the brutal war against the Alveraz Empire and Zeref, the cities, including Magnolia, are left in despair. However, the victory ignites a glimmer of hope as Natsu and Lucy celebrate their engagement and the guild begins to rebuild. Grateful for the guilds' combined efforts in overcoming the dark threat, the country starts to heal. But danger looms anew when the revelation of Natsu's true identity as END-the demon sought by countless dark mages for centuries-leads to his capture. He endures months of torture and experimentation, leaving his friends in anguish. As Christmas approaches, a miraculous turn of events allows the guild to locate Natsu, unconscious but alive, and they rush him back to safety.

"Contrary to popular belief, I know exactly what I'm doing." Tony said, barely sparing Rhodey a glance after taking a swig of some dark liquid that didn't look like scotch or soda. Rhodey knew that was his cue to leave, Tony's version of a polite dismissal, but his feet were rooted to the floor. He couldn't take his eyes off the dark lines climbing up Tony's neck, lines they both knew weren't road rash. Road rash didn't look like it was trying to poison the brain. It didn't create the paleness of his skin, the sweat from his brow, and the tiredness of his eyes. It didn't cause him to collapse, too weak to hold himself up.

“Death.” The boy says and Death’s smiles, all sharp teeth and glowering eyes that instil fear in everything living. The humans who had summoned him before this child had all but cowered in his presence, words failing them as they trembled in fear before him. But, this child held no such regard. The boy’s green eyes gleamed with fascination.
“Yes, child. You have summoned me.” Death acknowledges, and the boy’s eyes widen at the confirmation. “What is it that you want from me?”
He can already make the assumptions. From all his years of existing, Death knows what mortals want from him. Vitality, longevity and power. He peers down at the small frame of the young boy, who seems to hesitate momentarily, before taking in a deep breath.
The boy looks up at him, his eyes determined and Death wonders what the boy plans on asking him. Would it be wealth, riches, fantasies? The boy opens his mouth and speaks,
“Will you be my friend?”
“…Huh?”

'I have a healing quirk,' he lies, begging the boy with his eyes. Please, say yes. Please accept my DNA. 'It only works on others. Let me h-help you? I won't last.' Toshinori's words come more and more haltingly. He can feel cold darkness encroaching on his limbs already. He tilts his hand, just slightly, just enough to renew his offer to the boy. 'At-At least… Not long enough… For help to arrive in time.'
