Leon has felt this anger before.
After Raccoon City, it was as if it was the only thing that kept him going. Anger at what happened. Anger at himself. Anger at all of the things he wasn’t able to change and probably still couldn’t even if he could somehow go back.
But in all of the years he has been alive, with every call he’s responded to and every war he has fought in, he has never felt anger like this: consuming, unbridled, and burning hot in a way he swears will melt his own skin.

Ada doesn’t say anything to that at first, letting her thumbs stroke his skin until she’s tracing that old bullet hole the same way she always seems to do. Her response comes like a confession. “I think we need to retire.”
Leon tips his chin in agreement, jutting his brows as his eyes find the foggy door. “Yeah. But I don’t know what I would do even if I could. I’m not made for that quiet life, you know? Not anymore.”
“You could be,” she replies, soft and curious.

She knew she was running out of time to get to this place, loose end after loose end tying her up in knots and inevitably throwing her into a dead one. But as far as she had been concerned, everything seemed to be under control for the most part. Leon was doing his job, just as well as he always had, sending the undead back to their graves for good this time and putting all of his energy into tracking down Victor. Grace, despite being full of fear, was doing her best to help in whatever way she could.
But something must have happened in between her last encounter with Leon and this one, because he did not look like this an hour ago.

That kind of thing is just something he was never meant to have, or ever could, considering the world has fucked him beyond measure ever since that day in Raccoon City. First came the duty and then came the fall and with the fall came an inevitable thing that eventually almost destroyed him completely. It made him half the man he could have been, once upon a time, and dried up any and all hope for anything different a long time ago.

Summary
I didn't even know you could add notes to a series until now. I'm not sure how this works but the fics located here have been eating at me for a while so I need to post an explanation somewhere or delete them altogether.
This series is set in the Gojohime universe I created, back when I was diving into ships and what not. I don't ship them now, having decided that my love for canon is greater than my conflicted interest in romance. There are fun elements to what I've written, but also things within these works that make me cringe excruciatingly painfully.
I've shifted Gojo's character into a whole new image, purposefully at the time, but I have grown so protective over canon that I have to say I now regret it. I'll probably leave this series up for those who enjoy it, maybe not. However, it will not continue. Canon Gojo is a character whom I love dearly and I cannot stand to bend him to my will any longer. Nor can I stand to make Utahime fall in love with someone she hates.
It was fun for a while, but I just can't do it anymore. My account here was originally very HEAVILY manga-based, now nothing but a mess of ideas that I cannot seem to come up with a definition for. These works just aren't who I am.
