“Take a moment, Nate,” Benny murmurs, close to his ear.
Fingers gently wrap around his wrist, let him feel the ice pack pressed to his neck, tug his hand away a moment later.
“Where. . . ?” He starts it but he finds he can’t finish it, no matter how bright the words are on his tongue. His voice barely comes out, anyhow, barely rise above the breaths he feels rasping up and down against his lungs.
“Just keep breathin’, Nate,” Nicely tells him, soft. “We got you somewhere nice and quiet, alright? Take a deep breath.”
