Thus, you’ve learned that Bilbo Baggins has been assuming you died in the battle because of a miscommunication with members of the company and he, in fact, did not leave because he hated you like we all assumed.”
Thorin closed his eyes and nodded solemnly, “That about sums it up.”

As Thorin lies recovering from his wounds, Bilbo comes each night to talk with him: whether out of pity, or duty, or guilt, Thorin doesn't know. What he does know is that things can never now move forward as he once hoped. He needs to make it clear to Bilbo that his obligations are fulfilled, and home is waiting for him in the Shire.
Bilbo, however, might have something else to say on the matter.
