As they fall and then the violence of the waves and the cold temperature try to pull them under, Hannibal simply tightens his grip on Will's hand, his Will, holding onto him to keep contact against the strong tide.
As they swim, wounds forgotten by the rush of adrenaline coursing through their veins, Hannibal doesn't let go, feeling Will move beside him, breath heavy even with the sound of the sea.
As they crawl through the sand with the moon illuminating the path surrounded by rocks, the shadow of Will following him brings Hannibal immeasurable peace.
As they kneel on the ground, surrounded by rock and covered in salty grains, he closes his eyes and inhales deeply to imprint Will's scent; his hand never letting go of that smaller, more calloused one.
"I suppose we survived," he hears a hoarse voice.
"A rebirth, a new chance," his gaze meets that mix of green and blue, face clean of blood, purified by the sea, "tell me, Will, will this be our new chance?"
