Summary
“They are wolves, Derek, wolves!”
“I know.”
“They—” Stiles choked and focused his gaze on the alpha. “W-what?”
Amidst the rubble, the groaning building, the wailing, and the scent of burning metal, Derek looked calm. The alpha ascended one step, closer to Stiles. “My love, listen to me—”
“What is going on?” Stiles’ throat dried.
“I said, listen.”
The omega’s mouth clamped shut, his lips trembling. The muscles in Derek’s jaw bulged as if he struggled to stay still.
“I am taking you hostage.”
Stiles’ chest stilled. His lips parted. He went completely stiff, watching Derek’s lips move, but the words made no sense.
“Derek…” he murmured hoarsely, shaking his head. “What…”
“I am not going to hurt you.” Derek’s voice went hard as steel. He spread his arms as if showing the lack of armor. “But you are coming with me. It is an order. Do you understand me?”
Stiles shifted his gaze from his mouth to his eyes and flinched back.
They were red. Burgundy, like the blood splatters marring his face.
And just like that, everything became clear.

And, here, looking at his best friend, he can see that something’s broken inside him, too. And, maybe it’s the therapy he’s had over the years, his sessions with Frank, but Eddie wants to talk to Buck. He wants Buck to talk to him. Buck, who just looks so fucking sad, still in his dress blues, one hand drinking the beer, the other coming up to loosen his tie.
This morning, Eddie had noticed Buck tying, untying, retying the tie with breaths of frustration, fingers shaking. “Eddie,” he’d said lowly from across the room, and Eddie wouldn’t have even heard him if he hadn’t been watching. “I, uh, can never – I can never get this right.”

Calm down, come on.”
Calm down? The guy’s been forgetting his love declarations for months now and Eddie’s been very fucking calm about it. But he doesn’t get to die and pretend it’s nothing.

True love exists only in fairytales. And so do witches. And curses. Except nothing's ever easy in Eddie Diaz's life so now he's stuck confessing his love to his best friend over and over again, because he never seems to remember.
